Celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, may face charges for linking to a supposed picture of a naked, 17-year old Miley Cyrus. Though the picture has since been removed, and its authenticity questioned, Hilton's link remained active on his Twitter account. 18 is the majority age for most countries.

A legal expert questioned directly about this incident said it does not actually constitute a charge; the child pornography laws are meant to be applied to people who actively cull, create, and/or distribute mass quantities of such content. He said it is unlikely that Perez Hilton will be charged with anything, as he doubts any prosecutor would move on the case.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, sincerely hope this is the case; Hilton, and all of us, should be wary of prosecution on any grounds, as some prosecutors definitely target famous people to make "examples" of them. Because they are newsworthy, prosecutors know it will make headlines, draw attention to themselves and the case, and "send a message" to other bloggers, Netizens, et.al.
It should be noted that Weird Ink is not, at all, implying the blogger should face any charges; this story warrants reporting, as Hilton is one of the more well-known personalities in the Blogosphere, and his celebrity blog is (for better or worse) definitely a landmark of the realm.
Another celebrity blogger observed that Miley Cyrus' Good Morning America appearance included sexually suggestive dance moves which had the performer stroking her crotch.
