I was reading something earlier, while sitting in the doctor's waiting room. It was some article on something that I cared so little about, I can't even remember the real thrust of the article. But I read it - the whole thing - and I'll tell you why: it was well-written.
Now, the subject of the article is not what drew me to it; I was simply flipping through pages and came across it and started reading. And before I realized it, I was done with the article! Like I say, I only remember that it was about the disappearing bee population - aside from that, nothing really stood out - but that was enough.
The writer wrote smoothly and well and the editing was good enough that I wasn't constantly distracted by misspelled words or awkward phrasing. And before I knew it, I was being called back to the office to be seen.
It struck me so that I had to tell someone about it - luckily, I have a blog!
What struck me about it is that even though I wasn't all that interested in the subject matter or the person(s) involved, it was such a quick, easy read that I went straight through the article and was surprised it ended so quickly. Just goes to show that, in writing, quality really does matter!
