One thing I love about writing is learning more about all sorts of subjects. As we all know, research is an important part of the job. I love teh fact that I am an expert in different fields, even if it is just for a few days (though it drives friends and family members nuts - and I freely admit, I enjoy that aspect, too!). However, with all of the time I spend working, I truly do not have time to take a full-fledged course in anything, be it online or off-.

Sure, I could "find the time," but I just don't know how long I would last. I tried taking a trade school course for creative writing several years back; between maintaining a household, working full-time, and writing in the off-time, I only got through the first few weeks. I always meant to go back and give it another shot, but one thing after another kept that from happening. With all the time I spend online and in research, I still consider it from time to time.

Learn.com is unlike other online course sites. While you can work toward a degree in something as with more traditional courses, you can also take courses just to learn a skill - such as how to negotiate or give a better interview. Elearning is now for more than just earning a degree. In fact, Learn.com has tons of courses you can take for free!

Even more, you can choose to learn or improve your skills for a specific job profile. For instance, you can choose Business Management and Administration, and learn skills pertinent to that field. The more skilled you become, the higher your Learn.com Skill Score, a ranking Learn.com has developed to measure your qualifications in a certain job profile or field. Learn.com is hoping to make the Skill Score a viable and accepted ranking across the market, and truly believes it will one day be "as important as a credit score within the next few years."

Why wait? Even if the Skill Score does not catch-on - and seeing as how Learn.com is trusted by Fortune 500 companies, as well as top government agencies, it is a safe bet that it will - you will still have proof of your mastery in a field. Impress your interviewers with your negotiation skills and knowledge of business theory, then show them your Skill Score and explain to them what it means. Your Learn.com acumen may be all you need to land that all-important raise or get that job you want so badly!
