Blogging the Write Way: Advertising and Form

You will notice I am running a lot of sponsored posts throughout this week. That is because they are available. Like all other freelance work, it's catch-as-catch-can and I have been away for nearly a week. Due to my current financial straits, I need every bit that I can get. But this is a great place for sponsored posts because that's a big topic here.

If you are not hired by someone to blog - e.g., not getting paid by someone - then you are likely discovering various methods of generating income from your work. Sponsored posts are one such "stream." Just recently, I noticed a "Monetize" tab on Blogger. I'm sure that just adds Google AdSense, which I do not use, so I have not messed with it. Still, unless you are literally attracting thousands of visits a day, contextual advertising, banner ads, and so on will not pay your bills.

Even if you have a "free" blog - one from a service such as Blogger (like this one) - you spend time, energy, brainpower, et.al. working your blog. As we all know, there is a whole lot more to it than merely typing whatever comes to mind (though that's the best way to do it, as blogging is simply online journaling - not journalism) and sponsored posts are a great way to make some extra money. In fact, you can make a nice living on the side, if you do it well and do it right. And I'm pointing this out to you so you can check them out.

I'm not an expert or anything, but I most certainly do make a nice chunk o' change on the side, largely through sponsored posts. As I said, the other ads bring in far too little (though every little bit helps!), so the majority of my blogging income - which pays for the site, by the way - comes from this method. Check out the posts and see how I do it and feel free to comment here, if you want to discuss it or - especially - if you have any ideas or suggestions!
